I love your thoughts on this game! Seeing other DKC3 reviews I always found points I disagree with, but you're giving the game the respect it deserves :)

My favorite 3D platformer. Even around 2003 it was almost impossible to further the advancement of that genre, but Vince did it.

On the xbox it looks like the map is already loaded so it has no awful draw distance

This game sucks I I'm willing to die on that Hill. If it weren't for the fact that it had Castlevania in the title and the music was badass, I would never even look at it. It sucks that the first level left such a bad taste in my mouth because the final boss looks interesting.

I know this is old, but I have to say something here. So... I got Last Resort a few days after my Neo Geo CDZ in 2008 (my very first Neo Geo ever). It was the very first time I ever played the shmup despite growing up in the 1990's and loving the genre. I haven't touched my CDZ in years as I'm afraid it will keep breaking on me. Thankfully, I finally got an AES in 2010 and have been playing it ever since. So... I just got Last Resort on my AES, and there are some differences I am noticing. I thought AES-MVS-CDZ games were all virtually the same. Am I misremembering things here? I don't want to drag out my CDZ...what do you think?

The music can't compare. There is one horrible issue they just shouldn't have their music artist and programs get away with... THE FUCKING SONGS DON'T HAVE STEREO MIXING!!!! Except chiptune Gameboy sounds... NONE OF THE INSTRUMENT HAVE STEREO PAN! ALL OF THE SONGS SOUND VERY FLAT!!! The worst part... THE GENESIS DID HAVE!!!!! All of the songs are stereo because the console does have a jack port, just like the Gameboy Advance! Also even if they had to remake the game bgm into MIDI. Why is it so bad?! Nintendo Gameboy Advance games were capable of general midi... Yet Sonic Genesis is such one hella of an awful sound GBA game. Even their freaking Monkey Ball port sounded better and that game... DOESN'T EVEN HAVE SOUND ENGINE AT ALL...!!

As with many things and video games, today's young gamers are on a hyperventilation hype train all the time. Of course the moon theme is great. Duck Tales as such was and still is a very good platformer to pick up and play any time. On hardest difficulty it offers quite some challenge. Overrated? Possibly yes. But still a good classic.

I cannot fathom the audacity to complain about a game being easier then its predecessor. Nobody complained for Super Mario 3 being easier than Super Mario 1. It was never asked about making Mega Man 3 harder just because the first Mega Man game kicked your butt. So Rayman Legends seemed easier than Rayman Origins at times yet remains fun and a well made platformer with the right rhythm to jumping and running.

Growing up, we didn't have any home consoles, so I had to experience DKC and DKC2 at my friend's house. One Christmas (1996, I think), I received a Game Boy Pocket along with DKL and DKL2. Those were the only two games I ever owned for it, and I played DKL2 a lot more than the first game, which I was never able to beat, getting stuck on one of the cloud levels. Years later, I was able to emulate the SNES and appreciate the Country games, but when it comes to DKC2 v. DKL2, while the former is the winner visually, I have a pronounced preference for the lo-fi soundtrack of the Game Boy version.

I never got all the complaints about the monkey puzzles, the monkys only go two directions, the ones you can affect are limited and the area too find them in isn't to big or hard to navigate, now the ostrich sections, those are brutal

I LOVE my Jaguar too death, and I got the deal of the century back in April 2008 when I bought one off eBay for $60. Complete in box, a second controller, the rare OEM S-Video cable, Alien vs Predator, Doom, Wolfenstein, Tempest 2000, Cybermorph, Kasumi Ninja, Skiing/Snowboarding, Raiden, and Zool 2 all complete in box as well. A week or so later I was at my local game store, and found Iron Soldier, Hover Tank, Checkered Flag, Ultra Vortek, and I-War all complete in box for $5 a piece. Of course I bought them all. Playing it for the first time I immediately recognized the fanatical following the thing has to this day, and just how much potential it had/has. While it's technically not my favorite console of all-time, if I rank my absolute favorite consoles of all-time purely based on blind fanatical fanboyism, I put the 32X at #1, and the Jaguar a VERY CLOSE #2. 3DO would be #3 as well on the "blind fanboy list". Nowadays, I proudly own over 66% of the retail Jaguar library, all complete in box. Long Live The Jaguar!!!!

I love my 3DO too death, bought an FZ-10 back in 2007, and now own roughly 70 games for it. One of my favorite consoles of all-time.

The reason Zelda 2s graphics stink compared to mega Man 2 is because Capcom didn't become synonymous with awesomeness yet and actually put in the time and effort a sequel needed. Nintendo had the golden egg, they couldn't literally have had all new employees make Zelda 2 as long as miyamoto led them and would still make a gabillion bucks, they were close to that anyhow....gotta know when to say YEN

The mark on links hand is herpes from zelda. Turns out she was transgender and that's why shed never kiss or hook up with link. Poor link he he went straight to his rx girlfriend impas house to get some action so he was rested and restored for zelda 2. Turns out miyamoto doesn't let link see the doctors much unless it's for health potion or water of life. Even Dr Mario has no openings hes just too busy figting test tubes if crabs....you even wonder why a enemy named MAN HAND LA was always trying to get with link

Its ok. probably a better game than mario 1, but the gameplay is painfully generic today.

Shadow is a very good game and no-one can change my mind.

The "Far camera" setting eliminates large vehicles from obstructing your view. It makes the game way more enjoyable. Great review, by the way.

i always thought of gamma's story to be extremely heartbreaking. he literally sacrifices himself for the bird trapped inside him. :'( this was abnormally deep for a sonic game since.

The best part of this game is having your sibling stand in front of a Electoon cage while you super-punch them to watch the hilarious faces when the screen freezes.

I would scream, "frame rate", but there isn't one...

I had no trouble finishing this game when I was a kid, and loved it. All my friends complained that it was so difficult. I just didn’t get what they were talking about.

It's a great game but I don't get immersive ambiance that the original trilogy had. I blame it on the graphics both because of the technical limitations of the Wii but also the dubious artistic choices made. At 12:36 you can see a direct comparison. Furthermore, everything is way too happy and hardly intimidating, feels like a fun trip rather than an epic adventure journey.

This definitely my all time favorite game. Captivating and immersive ambiance like no other ever did. And what sets this one above the other two DKC from SNES is that you really are the underdog in this one. Having to fight in K.Rool home turf to save Donkey Kong, an intimidating island full of dread and wonder!

I was able to find a copy of this for the Super Nintendo for my brothers birthday since he is really into old games like this

I just finished it. What an amazing game. Tough as nails at times, but very fair in my opinion, it has great movement, and clear rules of gameplay. I think visuals are great here and the music is just perfect. Great title and my first Castlevania ever (and first 16bit game that i've completed). I think the reviews were just braindead. How it is worse looking than SC IV? How anyone can say it's music is a downgrade? I would say so far it's the best Genesis game i've played, and i love genesis as much as SNES. These effects used in Bloodlines were amazing, tower level is probably my favourite. Not to shit on SC IV but artstyle of Bloodlines if far far superior, and SC IV looks kinda grainy. Also i love it's difficulty - it's a true challenge, but in a good way. First time encountering the boss you feel like it's impossible to even finish the fight, but then you realize it's more than possible to beat every single one without even taking a hit if you learn it's movenents, attack patterns and you stop yourself from pointless moves. Reincarnated Souls is one of the best tunes i've ever heard in any game.

Was 11 when I saw a Nintendo and a Sega master system at the mall. Rambo 2 was on the Sega. The NES had Mario. The graphics on the Sega was better. I picked the Sega. No one at school had the system. I had no one to trade games with.

The shop is optional its not a main game mechanic like jumping jn mario. You dont have to use the shop to beat the game because its not a main game mechanuc while jumping is which is why you have to do it.

i loved it , i hated kiddie and the kremlin reskin. they should have replaced kiddie with donkey kong
